Beaches
In this section you can find a list of all the beaches on the Madeira and Porto Santo Islands.
Calheta
Calheta has invested considerably in improving its natural resources and devised an artificial beach whose greatest attribute is based on the yellow sand, brought from Morocco and Figueira da Foz (Portugal), making it the first and only in the Madeira Island, and is undoubtedly a strong point of attraction.
The Paúl do Mar beach, also known as the Ribeira das Galinhas beach, is ideal for those seeking a quiet spot. With excellent conditions for sunbathing, this beach has the advantage of never being too full.
Another of the public that prefer this beach dedicates to sport fishing.
And here we are at the surfers' paradise! The Jardim do Mar (See Garden) with its beaches Portinho, Enseada e Ponta Jardim, has been elected by those seeking to escape the hurly burly of Funchal.
Funchal
The Barreirinha complex, located in Zona Velha (the old part of town), offers good conditions to its visitors and the water quality is certified by the Blue Flag. The entire complex is guarded by a lifeguard and has a medical facility.
The Lido pools are probably the most famous beach resort of Funchal and also one of the best in the region.
With two pools of salt water, renewed every day, still has access to the sea for those who prefer the natural waves of the ocean.
This the newest resort complex built on the Madeira Island. With a prime location on the beautiful promenade of Lido-Praia Formosa, has facilities that have captivated its visitors.
Praia Formosa is located in Funchal, just 10 minutes drive from the city center and has three small sandy beaches and a pebble, known as Nova, Formosa, dos Namorados and Arieiro.
Doca do Cavacas is a small complex which consists of natural pools and for those who prefer to have direct access to the sea.
Machico
The new complex of Caniçal opened in 2003 has two saltwater pools, one for adults and another for children, and two accesses to the sea.
Porto da Cruz, located on the northeast coast of the island, now has a modern beach resort.
Located near the airport, the beautiful bay of Machico has a wondeful beach and good facilities for bathing and sunbathing.
Also made of stone, like almost all the Madeira beaches, this beach is elected by the locals during the summer, checking large turnout on Saturdays and Sundays.
Quinta do Lorde is located at the eastern end of the island, in Caniçal area.
This private complex includes an inn and a yatch club with a good marina and a large area reserved for parking.
If you are interested in the beach, know that Quinta do Lorde has indoor pool, outdoor pool, bar and solarium (access subject to payment).
Prainha is located near the beautiful Ponta de São Lourenço, in Caniçal.
This little wonder, made of black sand seem to contradict the reality of the Madeira pebble beaches.
Inaugurated on September 29, 2008. The new beach of golden sand in madeira Island has about 125 meters long and 70 meters wide and is located in the east of Machico Bay, next to the marina, has recorded the presence of dozens of people that take advantage of good weather.
Ponta do Sol
The Ponta do Sol beach, who was awarded the Blue Flag, is located in the Town and Country of the same name, in the west of Madeira Island.

An evocative name for an alternative on the north coast of the island.
The "Laje" (another name for these beach) swimming complex, also known as "Jamaica Beach" is hidden among rocks and owns a unique beauty.
The main attraction of this village north coast are undoubtedly the natural pools, which "lie" between bizarre and lava rocks that are filled by the tide with crystal clear waters.
Porto Santo
This is a paradise for holidaymakers, with an area of 9 km of fine golden sand.
The quality of this beach, the tranquility that visitors can enjoy a quiet and restful, is completely opposite of what happens in similar destinations, tourist destination explored.
Added to all this, the beach is surrounded by a sea of calm and crystaline waters, whose temperature is pleasant at any time of year.
Ribeira Brava
There are, in principle, two good reasons to visit the Calhau da Lapa: the guarantee of finding one of the most cleanest Madeira waters and the silence that reigns in this beach.

This beach is excellently located and offers good conditions for bathing and sunbathing. Located in the heart of Ribeira Brava, close to all restaurants and bars.
Santa Cruz
Galo Mar is part of the first resort area of Caniço.
Of the many attractions offered can enjoy the saltwater pool, the center of diving (Manta Diving Center) and the lift with an exterior view.
Now here is a good example of how a beach may be a little corner of paradise. With the necessary amenities, but without "luxuries", this is a point of encounter with nature.
This beach, located in Santa Cruz, is very popular in summer.

The surprise is nice for those visiting for the first time. São Jorge is a small beach and a nice beach resort, from which you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding landscape.
São Vicente
São Vicente, located on the north coast of the island, the ideal conditions for surfers (the sea of this coast is much more hectic than the south coast).
The Ponta Delgada bathing complex includes an intervention in an area of about 8,800 m2. A swimming pool for adults as well as a children's pool both fed by salwater were built.
