Rancho Cable Car (near Cabo Girão) opened in August 2003. First was used as a mean of transport for farmers who had a lot of difficulty in bringing their crops up.
This cable car consists of two cabins, with 6 seats each, linking the Rancho to Fajãs do Cabo Girão.
The Rancho is a restaurant and snack bar that serves traditional food, such as the swordfish, "picado" (a traditional food of the island which takes chips, cow meat and salad) and octopus in vinegar sauce.
The Cabo Girão cliffs are composed mainly of crop land and a small, friendly beach, you can see from the lookout of Cabo Girão.
Down the lift may seem a terrifying experience, special for those who suffer from vertigo, but a swim in this beach is something that is really worth it. So close your eyes and wait until the cabin reaches the end of the route.
